\n\u201cDeai\u201d is a Japanese word meaning \u201cencounter,\u201d reflecting the fusion of various artistic expressions that make up this unique performance. Inspired mainly by Butoh, Tenchi Tessen, martial arts\u2014with special emphasis on Aikido\u2014and Zazen, the Deai dance goes beyond movement, incorporating influences from photography, cinema, sculpture, poetry, and philosophy, especially existentialist philosophy.<\/span><\/p>\n
